A Hapless Flight

This kingfisher indeed had it rough for being caged in ice. Taking flight for a fishing mission, the beady-eyed diver didn’t recognize how unbelievably chilly the Dutch inland waterways can be with sub-zero temperatures, so it got trapped in the rapidly freezing water, turning into an icy statue.

Sadly, according to the person who found this poor little bird, no one was available to help it in its desperate time. In the end, this kingfisher had no choice but to remain trapped below water as temperatures plummeted, making for a sad end for this poor creature.
