The Tale of Yuka The Mammoth

We are all familiar with the strange things that are such frequent discoveries in frosty Siberia. In 2010, scientists found a wooly mammoth, Yuka, conserved perfectly by the subzero Russian freezing temperatures. Currently estimated to be 39,000 years old, the remains were amazingly intact, with even the gentle giant’s reddish fur in place, giving scientists more to work with to determine the mammal’s size.

According to the experts, Yuka was a baby when she met her untimely demise, which appeared to be an attack from a cave lion species that has long become extinct.
