Anne Reid started with minor roles in various television programs, including “The Benny Hill Show,” “Hancock’s Half Hour,” and “The Adventures of Robin Hood.” When she joined the soap opera “Coronation Street” as Valerie Tatlock, her character was so popular that it skyrocketed her career.
She has appeared in more television projects, such as “Last Tango in Halifax,” which landed her a British Academy nomination. In film, she is best known for “The Mother” which gave her a win in the London Film Critics’ Circle Award for British Actress of the Year. Reid was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the 2010 Birthday Honours.
