As soon as Sarah Lancashire graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, she began acting in local theater while teaching drama classes at the University of Salford. She gained prominence in television for appearing in “Coronation Street,” “Where the Heart Is,” and “Clocking Off.”
In 2000, the ITV network signed her with a two-year golden handcuffs contract, and she became UK’s highest-paid television actress. This was followed by further onscreen appearances in “Oliver Twist” and the 2022 series “Happy Valley.” Lancashire was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2017 for her contribution to drama.
