Soulful Superstar – Sade Connecting with the Cause and the Crowd
In a sea of testosterone and rock and roll, trust an icon like Sade to bring some soul to proceedings. She wasn’t iconic in 1985 yet, but her performance at Live Aid went a long way to cementing those claims. Being African born, she probably had a bigger connection to the cause than most.
This would explain her passionate rendition of her major hits at the time. She had a 16-minute set, but as per her soulful approach, she rushed nothing, performing a three-song set with hits, Is It a Crime, Your Love Is King, and Why Can’t We Live Together.
