It’s A Dangerous World For Asiatic Black Bears
The species is currently categorized as a vulnerable one, just a step behind the endangered classification. Their population is said to be around 16,000 to 50,000 bears in China alone. However, some estimates put their population at 25,000 across all of Asia. That number might decrease even more in the future.
Thousands of Asiatic black bears can be found on Chinese bile farms, where they are milked for their bodily fluids. Their bile is marketed as a supposed cure for various ailments, from cancer to hangovers. And so, the world has become a dangerous place for bears like Little Black.
