Tom is a devout Scientologist, and he has been a vocal supporter of the church for many years, even saying that Scientology has helped him to overcome personal challenges. The controversial religious movement founded by L. Ron Hubbard combines spiritual beliefs with self-help practices noted for its secretive nature and alleged abusive practices.

Tom has also made some pretty outlandish claims about the religious movement, such as that he can heal people with his touch. After attaining the “Operating Thetan VI” level in the Church of Scientology, he asserts the power to heal minor wounds, sprains, and infections with his holy touch.
