Did you know that Tom Cruise’s full name is Thomas Cruise Mapother IV? That’s right; he has four parts to his name! Born in Syracuse, New York, on July 3, 1962, he started acting in high school and has since starred in many successful films, including “Top Gun,” “Rain Man,” and “Mission: Impossible.”

His middle name comes from his father, Thomas Cruise Mapother III. The latter was an electrical engineer, and his mother, Mary Lee Pfeiffer, was a special education teacher. Interestingly enough, Tom also has Irish ancestry dating back from his great-grandfather with the last name of O’Mara, who immigrated to the United States in the late 1800s.
