Mel Brooks – 1926
Mel Brooks is most known for his work as a producer and director, notably for directing the film “Get Smart” with his partner Buck Henry. In addition to his fame as an actor and comedian, he has achieved success as a filmmaker, author, producer, and composer. He had the greatest commercial success with the 1967 satire picture “The Producers,” which was a huge hit at the time.
As a teenager, Brooks worked as a stand-up comedian at resorts in the Catskills. It was as a writer rather than an actor that he returned to comedy after his time in the US Army in World War II.
