Robert Clary — 1926
In his long career as an actor, Robert Clary, a French-American, has worn a variety of hats. He’s also a well-known musician, artist, speaker, and author. Since his debut in 1951, he had a prosperous career in the entertainment industry and retired in 2001. To survive the Nazi concentration camp, Clary sang songs for the SS men to keep his spirits up.
After he was freed from prison in 1945, he came to the United States and established a career as an actor. Known for sharing awareness of the “Holocaust,” he published an autobiography called “From the Holocaust to Hogan’s Heroes: The Autobiography of Robert Clary” upon his retirement.
