All Hell Breaks Loose

In one of his songs; the singer-songwriter Bill Callahan states that “When you’re married, you’re married to the whole wide world.” Richard indeed felt the impact of these poetic words when he realized he needed to explain his situation to everybody, from his second wife and other family members to his co-workers.

It’s hard enough to struggle with cystic fibrosis after learning that you’ve raised another man’s children for more than two decades. But just imagine doing so while having to deal with the burden of sharing the news with pretty much everyone. Richard was going through unspeakable emotional turmoil.
