The Strange Grasshopper Glacier
If your first move is to call the pest control office when you sight a cockroach or two, then you’ll have to hate this one. Right in Montana’s Beartooth Mountains, there is an ice formation known as the Grasshopper Glacier, with a distinct appearance somewhat reminiscent of the rough skin of an elephant.
Scientists later discovered that tens of millions of locusts were entombed in that glacier. According to one of their theories, these insects were trapped in the glacier by a snowstorm thousands of years ago while trying to migrate.
