Eileen Atkins (Born In 1934) – The Killing of Sister George
Eileen Atkins is a theater, television, and film actress who also lends expertise as a screenwriter. She rose to fame after joining the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1957. She had her breakthrough in the Broadway show “The Killing of Sister George,” which immediately landed a Tony nomination.
This was followed by subsequent nominations for “Vivat! Vivat Regina!” and “The Retreat from Moscow.” As a screenwriter, Atkins co-created “Upstairs, Downstairs,” “The House of Elliot,” and “Mrs Dalloway.” Her contribution to the industry made her a Commander of the Order of the British Empire and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire.
