Sultans Of Sting – Dire Straits Play a Classic Set
It was a good thing Sting was around. Especially for Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits, who had every intention of playing their 1985 smash hit Money for Nothing. Sting provides backing vocals on the chorus in the studio recording and was on hand to that on the song at Live Aid.
This song was one of the band’s most successful hits. It peaked at number one on the Billboard and Rock Charts, and the iconic computer-generated music video was the first to be played on MTV Europe in 1987. They closed their show with another classic, their indomitable Sultans of Swing.
