As one of EastEnders’ original cast members, John Altman appeared on the soap opera from its debut in 1985 until 2016. Perhaps he needed a break from the monotony, which is why he went looking for other work after being on the show on-and-off for so long.

Considering the exceptional acting skills that Altman has, one thing’s for sure—he’ll never run out of work as long as he’s willing to stay in the industry. In fact, the 69-year-old is scheduled to appear as Bosun Fletcher in Unsinkable and Harry Sykes in Innocent Candy soon. To say that he is valuable to the British entertainment industry would be an understatement.
