The good thing about success is that it brings in the big bucks. The bad thing about success is that sometimes, it harms relationships… including marriages. Although this isn’t directly the cause of the divorce of Garth Brooks and Sandy Mahl.

They married in 1986, and despite Brooks’s platinum and diamond selling success, their marriage ended in 2001. For Mahl, this resulted in a massive $125 million settlement payout. At least Brooks has also built enough popularity to make that all back in the long run. Brooks is also well respected and was at Joe Biden’s inauguration, performing “Amazing Grace.”
