The Hamster That Wasn’t
A man rescued a “hamster” from being run over as it ran across a street in Norway. Thinking it was somebody’s pet, he set out to find its owner to return the little guy. He didn’t have much luck finding the owner, but it was a good thing he eventually dropped by a pet store.
It was there that he was told that what he had found was actually a Norwegian lemming. The creature is a type of rodent that prefers living in the wild. Knowing this, the man ended up freeing the lemming back into nature. Such cases of mistaken identity can go the other way, too.
