The former is Britain’s most multifaceted celebrity due to his many artistic pursuits. “The Tommy Steele Story,” his record released in 1957, was the first British album to top the U.K. Albums Chart.
Even his acting was so compelling that he was named English cinema’s fourth most successful actor. In 1973, he was honored with a knighthood for his contributions to the arts and charity. While in 2020, Steele received the highest civilian honor from the United Kingdom, becoming an Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
