Nehemiah Persoff – Age 102
When Nehemiah Persoff moved to America from Israel in 1929, he had aspirations to live the American dream. He even joined the US Army during WWII and also worked as a subway electrician after then. But what he wanted to do was be an actor.
Persoff got that first break as a gang boss in Billy Wilder’s classic “Some Like It Hot.” He also had a notable role in the 1983 film “Yentl,” playing Barbra Streisand’s character’s father. He appeared in the 1988 film “Twins” and went on to earn 200 film credits. In 2021 he appeared in a documentary called “Boris Karloff: The Man Behind the Monster.”
