Malala Yousafzai, (24) – $5 Million
Malala Yousafzai rose to prominence for her activism efforts in her native hometown. Growing up in Swat Valley, a region in northwest Pakistan, the armed militia in the area often banned girls from attending school. She blogged about the experience and described how they still tried their best to earn an education despite the odds.
Receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 made her the youngest recipient of the laureate and the second Pakistani national to earn the accolade. Malala continues her activism efforts after settling in Britain. In 2021, she married the Pakistani Cricket Board manager, Asser Malik, in Birmingham.
