Jean Elizabeth Smart won an Emmy in September 2021 and dedicated it to her late husband. She received the award for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work on the stunningly successful HBO series “Hacks.”
Smart plays an aging stand-up comedian named Deborah Vance in the show, whose jokes do not land with a younger audience. However, things turn around when she meets a young writer named Ava (played by Hannah Einbinder). Ava’s show was ‘canceled,’ so Vance gives Amy a platform while Ava gives Vance relevant jokes. It seems a symbiotic relationship is not only reserved for the wild!
