These Beloved Stars of Hollywood’s Golden Age Are Still Alive And Enjoying Life In Retirement

Ami Ciccone Dec 27, 2021

If you’ve been around long enough, then you’ve surely enjoyed heaps of movies, TV shows, and songs from the Golden Age of Hollywood up to the ’70s and ’80s. Do you ever wonder what happened to the actors who gave life to your favorite characters and singers who performed the now-nostalgic songs? If the answer is yes, then you’re in the right place.

We have curated a list of 50 stars who are still alive and kicking, and most of them have passed their 70-year milestone. Nonetheless, you’d be surprised to learn who among them are still active in their careers and how much they have got going on in their lives!

Barbara Eden — 1931

When Barbara Eden made other’s wishes come true on her most popular project, I Dream of Jeannie, she didn’t realize she was making her own dreams come true as well. Like the pretty 2,000-year-old genie she was back then, Eden doesn’t seem to have aged one bit because we can all agree that she looks glorious at 89.

Eden had already had recurring roles in The Johnny Carson Show and How to Marry a Millionaire when she played Jeannie, the genie. However, that was the role that put her on the grid permanently. Despite being close to 90, she played Mrs. Claus on My Adventures with Santa in 2019.

Connie Stevens — 1938

If you think back on the early years of Connie Stevens’s career, you may recall that she attracted a lot of attention on the Hawaiian Eye TV series. However, her career has seen much greater heights since then, with roles in Grease 2 and Tapeheads, among others.

Did you know that Stevens also had a decent music career that saw the release of nine studio albums and 20 singles? Despite being 82, she hasn’t stopped acting. She even played Meredith in the 2019 film By the Rivers of Babylon. Her children with the late actor Eddie Fisher, Joely, and Tricia Fisher, have also followed their parents’ footsteps.

Denise Coffey – 1936

There was a time when acting talent did not come out of social media and reality shows. Acting schools such as Glasgow College of Dramatic Art were famous for producing high caliber actors. An example in point is the English beauty Denise Coffey, a known film and radio talent still with us today.

The thespian had significant and minor roles; she even wrote herself – Hold The Front Page. Coffey’s other notable appearances are End of Part One and The Adventure Game. The dignified actress’s most striking move was when she refused to do commercials citing that too much commercial persuasion is trickery. Well said, Denise, cheers!

Marsha Hunt – 1917

The American actress, model and activist Marsha Hunt is a Golden Age of Hollywood legend with more than enough crazy stories to tell her grandchildren. At the age of 103, she’s a proud survivor of McCarthyism, a ’50s movement that caused numerous Hollywood performers to be blacklisted on the account of being “communist.”

Known for appearing in over 100 productions over the course of seven decades, Hunt officially retired from show business in 2014. In 2021, she appeared as herself in the documentary Journey to Royal: a WWII Rescue Mission.
