Paul Gascoigne, better known by his stage name, Gazza, was one of the most gifted football players of his period. He was renowned for his extraordinary talent, and when Tottenham paid $2.4 million for him in 1985, he broke the previous record for the most expensive player in Britain. He reportedly once owned a wealth worth $24.2 million, but his post-play years were ruined by some personal and legal troubles, which brought his wealth down to a paltry $100k.
