During Tom’s primary years, they moved to Ottawa with his family because his father got a job as a defense consultant. They resided in Beacon Hill, where he attended Robert Hopkins Public School and discovered his passion for drama. During his sixth grade in 1974, when his parents separated, he returned to the United States.
While specific accounts of Tom’s life in Canada are not well-documented, he only remembered doing flips off the roof and getting his first broken leg.
