Won Three Golden Globe Awards Only to Return Them All
In May 2021, Tom Cruise, after winning his three Golden Globe Awards for the movies “Born on the Fourth of July,” “Jerry Maguire,” and “Magnolia,” has decided to return them as a symbol of protest to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. It was mainly due to the lack of diversity in the nominations and winners and cited allegations of moral misconduct to the organization.
His decision made headlines; critics called it a significant move to bring systemic reform and inclusion challenges to the organization. These allegations and the diversity of concerns prompted several prominent figures in the entertainment industry to voice their support for change within the HFPA.
