Activist Abbie Hoffman at Woodstock
Abbie Hoffman was a famous writer and activist back then. But he was more famous for inciting riots at large public gatherings. And even though the Woodstock festival was about love and peace, he did not shy from creating a nuisance over there as well!
Hoffman wanted to give a shoutout about the government’s unfair decision of sending an American poet – John Sinclair, to confinement and demanded people’s support. But obstructing The Who’s live performance mid-way was no way to do that. Peaceful protests have a time and place for a reason, after all!
