Bethel, Where It All Went Down
Contrary to popular belief, the Woodstock festival did not take place in a town by that name. Instead, this pivotal event went down in Bethel, a sleepy suburban settlement in New York. It was the over 40,000 people showing up unannounced that wrote history.
The town went on to achieve pilgrimage-status and is to this day frequented by everyone interested in the 60s showbiz disruption that has influenced the industry as we know it today. It’s incredible what one event can do to a town – Bethel underwent an instant transformation from a relatively unknown village to what it is today, the hallowed place where it all went down!
