Emma Coburn

Emma Coburn is the greatest female American in the history of her field, so why haven’t you heard of her? Unfortunately for Coburn the track and field world doesn’t get much press, and the steeplechase event gets even less. But, Coburn is the American record holder in the 3000-meter steeplechase nonetheless.

Incredibly, she became the first American woman to win any medal in the event when she won bronze at the 2016 Olympics. She won the silver medal at the 2019 World Championships and was poised for gold in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics before the pandemic postponed the games.
