Mia and Ro grieved following the devastating loss, but they didn’t give up. They kept trying, and she was soon expecting again. Theirs wasn’t the first recorded case of a woman from the United States having six children at a go.
James and Winnie Bushnell, who were Chicago residents, welcomed six tots in 1866. Sadly, they lost two of their infants in their first year out of the womb. The remaining four thrived into adulthood. Research has found that full survival was recorded in only 35 complete sets of similar multi-birth cases.
