Len Bias

The late Leonard Kevin Bias was a youthful basketball player who played for the University of Maryland. He was selected by the Boston Celtics of the NBA as the second overall pick in their round one draft in 1986, aged 22. Barely two days after he was drafted, he passed away from a cocaine overdose-related condition, cardiac arrhythmia.

Bias had a stellar four-year career at Maryland, where he became a consensus first-team All-American. He was also a two-time first-team All-ACC, a two-time ACC Player of the Year, and the ACC Tournament MVP. He was inducted into the College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021.
