Michelangelo created this masterpiece, but he initially did not want to do it because he thought of himself as a sculptor and not really a painter.

According to History, the celebrated artist did his art while standing, contrary to the common misconception that he was lying down. Michelangelo and his assistants put his designed wooden scaffolds and platforms together and attached them to walls to help him reach the ceiling.
