Different tiers of celebrities exist, and while we are more accustomed to sports and Hollywood stars, politicians and lawmakers equally command the spotlight. Somehow, we are always intrigued by the people who have captured the hearts of the world’s most powerful leaders.
Whether their spouses are still serving their nation or they’ve long completed their tenures, it’s intriguing to get some insights about what it takes to be a politician’s better half. That brings us to this list of men and women who can boast of being involved in relationships with famous names in the political world.
Mike Pence & Karen Pence – Together Since 1985
Mike Pence and his wife of three decades, Karen, are also on the list of powerful political couples. Their marriage is Karen’s second, having previously tied the knot with Dr. John Steven Whitaker. The two first set eyes on each other in 1983 at the Indianapolis St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic church.
They made things official after dating for eight months. They dealt with infertility issues for the initial six years of their marriage, but their union is now blessed with three children. Their youngest, Audrey, is a law student at Yale University. In 2021, Pence lent his voice to narrate the four-part Fox News Media series about Rush Limbaugh.
Elizabeth Warren & Bruce H. Mann – Together Since 1980
Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren lost the bid to run during the 2020 U.S. elections as a Democratic candidate. Through it all, she had her husband Bruce H. Mann’s support since 1980 when they tied the knot. They met in the line of duty, and Warren popped the big question after concluding a property class she was teaching that he attended.
It’s Warren’s second shot at marriage, having been married to Jim Warren for a decade. Mann is currently working as a professor at Harvard Law School. Warren has two children from her first marriage, and she also has three grandchildren.
Kamala Harris & Doug Emhoff – Together Since 2014
Kamala Harris officially became U.S. Vice President in January 2021 and recently moved with her family into Number One Observatory Circle, the historic vice president’s residence. She previously served as a state senator representing California.
Harris met Doug Emhoff, a legal professional, through a mutual friend. A blind date they had in 2014 soon saw them walking down the aisle later that year. Their union subsequently made Harris a stepmother of two. Emhoff was previously married to film producer Kerstin Emhoff, and their daughter Ella is now an accomplished model and artist.
