Chuck Schumer & Iris Weinshall – Together Since 1980

Chuck Schumer assumed the role of Senate Majority Leader in January 2021. He is also the senior senator representing the state of New York and has represented the state since 1999. Schumer married Iris Weinshall in 1980, and they have two daughters who both attended Harvard College.

Weinshall is The New York Public Library’s Chief Operating Officer. She previously worked in the New York City Department of Transportation as a commissioner and the City University of New York’s vice-chancellor. Schumer and Weinshall became grandparents in 2018 after their daughter Jessica welcomed a son.
