Maxine Waters & Sidney Williams – Together Since 1977

Maxine Waters represents California’s 43rd congressional district and stands as the second most senior member of California’s congressional delegation. She also chairs the House Financial Services Committee. In 1977, Waters walked down the aisle a second time to tie the knot with diplomat Sidney Williams, a former linebacker.

Williams worked as a sales representative from 1979 to 1994 at the Mercedes-Benz Hollywood dealership. During Bill Clinton’s administration, Williams served as the U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas. Waters and Williams have two adult children, Edward and Karen. Sadly, Waters lost her sister Velma Moody in May 2020.
