Lori Lightfoot & Amy Eshleman – Together Since 2014
The current Mayor of Chicago is Lori Lightfoot, who assumed the office in 2019. Lightfoot worked in the legal profession and also served the City of Chicago in various capacities. Notably, she chaired the Chicago Accountability Task Force and served as the Chicago Police Board’s president.
Lightfoot is commendably the first openly lesbian African-American woman elected to run a major American city. Amy Eshleman married Lightfoot in 2014, on the day that same-gender marriages became legal in Illinois. They live in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood with their adopted daughter named Vivian.
