John Bel Edwards & Donna Edwards – Together Since 1989
John Bel Edwards is the current governor of Louisiana, and he first assumed office in 2007. As of 2021, he stands as Louisiana’s only statewide elected official from the Democratic Party. Edwards is a veteran, and he rose to the rank of captain when he served with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.
He exchanged vows with Donna in 1989 when he was still taking part in military training. John and Donna have one son and two daughters. Donna graduated with an industrial management degree, and she’s also a trained teacher.
