A Greater Threat to Deer than Ghosts?
Have you ever thought that deer’s biggest fears were spooky spirits lurking in the shadows? Well, according to NPR, a rare sighting captured a golden eagle preying on a young sika deer somewhere in the Russian wilderness. It turns out birds of prey are a bigger threat to Bambi than those spooky skull-shaped orbs will ever be.
The attack ended up with a full belly for the eagle, and the fawn weighed somewhere between 88 and 100 pounds. But what’s even more fascinating is that experts believe this might be the first-ever documented instance of an eagle attacking and killing a deer.
