When Cute Creatures Turn Terrifying

How do cute and cuddly animals suddenly become terrifying after the sun goes down? Porcupines are a prime example of this transformation, as shown in this photo of two of the large rodents at night. With their hair and quills raised, they looked like two fierce creatures ready for battle, if not in one already.

Interestingly, porcupines’ quills usually lie flat until they feel threatened. According to National Geographic, the sharp quill tips can cause significant pain to any predator. So, it’s likely that the two porcupines were actually fighting. Regardless, it’s clear that these adorable creatures can turn into fierce warriors when provoked.
