Maxine Waters – Los Angeles, $6 Million

In 2021, Yahoo! News reported that Maxine Waters was criticized for allegedly paying her daughter with campaign funds. It’s not the first time that the Chairwoman of the House Financial Services Committee is under the line of fire: in 2020, she was attacked (not physically) by rival candidate Joe Collins for living in a lavish mansion outside her district.

While Waters comes from one of Los Angeles’s poorest districts, she lives in a luxurious $6-million property in the state’s much “sunnier” 37th Congressional District. A loud voice in the Democratic Party, Waters was one of the fiercest opposers of the Donald Trump administration.
