Pele (Born in 1940)
Pele has been labeled as “the greatest” by FIFA, and he is wildly regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time. He is among the most popular and successful sports figures of the 20th Century. He won three world cups during his international career, the only football player to manage this feat.
After his retirement in 1977, he has still been an important figure in football. He was named Athlete of the Century by the International Olympic Committee in 2000. However, his most notable work has been his ambassadorial work, including being appointed UN ambassador for ecology and the environment.
