Michael Phelps (Born in 1985)
Michael Phelps is the most awarded Olympian in history. The former competitive swimmer has a total of 28 medals, 23 of which are gold medals. In the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Phelps won eight gold medals, breaking Mark Spitz’s 1972 record of seven first-place finishes at any Olympic Games.
Phelps has set 39 world records, which is more than any other swimmer. After the 2008 Olympics, he started the Micheal Phelps Foundation, which focuses on the sport of swimming and also promotes a healthier lifestyle. He retired after winning five Olympics golds and a silver medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.
