Willie Mays (Born in 1931)
A former American professional baseball player, Willie Mays is regarded as one of the greatest baseball players of all time. He spent 22 seasons in the Major League Baseball organization playing for the New York/San Francisco Giants before his final stint with the New York Mets.
He has won 12 Gold Glove Awards during his career, and in 1964, he was named the Giants captain, making him the first African American to become a team captain in the NFL. Mays continues to remain involved in the sport, and he signed a lifetime contract with the Giants as a special assistant to the general manager.
