After James Patterson, J. K. Rowling is the highest-paid author in the world according to Forbes. Although some sources have estimated her fortune to be in excess of £740 million, in 2020, BusinessInsider reported that she is sitting pretty with more than £500 million to her name.
Rowling discovered a goldmine (both figuratively and literally) in 1998 when she published her first book in the “Harry Potter” series, “The Philosopher’s Stone.” Over the years, she has raked in big sums from her publishing work and its film adaptations and between 2019 and 2020, she took home an impressive £44.47 million.
