In 2017, proponents of equal pay rejoiced when Jodie Whittaker signed on to play the lead role in the popular “Doctor Who” series but more importantly, she was also set to receive the same salary as her predecessor Peter Capaldi. The move was made by the BBC after several complaints regarding the pay gap in the acting business.
With nearly two decades of acting experience under her belt, Whittaker has raked in millions thanks to her TV work in series, shows, and commercials. In November 2021, fans of “Doctor Who” were quite distraught when the BBC revealed that Whittaker’s last episode as the doctor would be airing in the Fall of 2022.
