Things were not always so great for the now-famous actor who’s one of Hollywood’s biggest names. Samuel L. Jackson beat the odds after battling and defeating addiction, a problem many celebrities of his time had and never recovered from. After his rehabilitation, he featured in the famous 1991 movie “Jungle Fever,” ironically as a drug addict, thus beginning his journey to stardom.

Jackson is Marvel’s Nick Fury, and that role has reeled in millions of dollars for him. Starring him in a movie costs nothing less than $10 million, and his shows have grossed more than $27 billion worldwide.
