Kenny Chesney, a top country vocalist with a hard-core country style, is also known for his country rock flair. With over 40 top 10 singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, he is among the most successful crossover artists in the industry. However, music was not his first career choice.
After graduating from high school in 1986, Chesney enrolled at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City for a degree in business. Though he renewed his interest in music after receiving a guitar for his birthday, he still managed to complete his degree in advertising and marketing in 1991.
