The Maiden Of Icy Summits

While Chilean Andes has its fair share of artifacts to offer, Peru, too, is home to age-old bodies. The most famous of these are the remnants of a maiden, later called “Juanita,” she was found on Mount Ampato’s summit in Peru.

Juanita first came to light of modern-day eyes following a volcanic eruption in an unbelievable condition. The body was frozen inside out, and it was baffling how the parts remained intact for so many years. Surprisingly, even the food she consumed before freezing for centuries was still inside the gut’s remains when first found.
