Madonna has also been adopting kids before it became fashionable for celebrities to adopt. One of them was Mercy James, who she adopted in 2009 from Malawi. It wasn’t easy, and the High Court declined her initial application in Malawi. But she persisted and eventually got her baby.
Her persistence method was to build a children’s hospital and name it after the child. Mercy doesn’t make many public appearances, but she was seen out and about with Madonna and her boyfriend Ahlamalik Williams for her birthday in January 2022.
