Leonard Whiting (Born In 1950) – Romeo and Juliet
Leonard Whiting started as a child singer and appeared in numerous musicals. When he appeared in Laurence Olivier’s National Theatre in the production of William Congreve’s “Love for Love,” it was the start of a blissful journey. Director Franco Zeffirelli noticed his sweet and gentle posture, making him play Romeo in the 1968 Zeffirelli film version of “Romeo and Juliet.”
His performance earned him the Golden Globe Award for New Star of the Year. Since then, Whiting has appeared in numerous projects, including “The Royal Hunt of the Sun” and “Say Hello to Yesterday.” Forty-six years after “Romeo and Juliet,” he reunited with Olivia Hussey for the film “Social Suicide.”
